MARJORIE BARBARA LEWIS

 

Marjorie B. Lewis,  holds various degrees including Public Policy Analysis, Pastoral Care and Counseling and Business and Public Administration.  She hales from the Washington, DC, Metropolitan area by way of Shaw University, University of Maryland, Norfolk State University, Howard University South Eastern University, Carnegie Mellon University, UC Berkeley, American Baptist Seminary of the West, University of Colorado,  (Denver, Boulder and Colorado Springs), United Theological Seminary, the University of Minnesota, and Regis University.  She combines academic and applied orientations informed as an Ordained Minister       (D. Min.), A Public Policy Analyst (Ph.D.), and a State Licensed Mental and Behavioral Health Professional (trainer, evaluator, and direct services provider).   She has applied these skills in military and prison reentry, psychotherapy, counseling and psycho-education.  Her 30-year tenure both in Oakland, CA and in Denver, CO  features service in three arenas, religion, academia, and behavioral health.  This includes but is not limited to Assistant to the Pastor, at the Allen Temple Baptist Church (Oakland CA), Minister of Education at the Macedonia Baptist Church, Minister of Children at the New Hope Baptist Church, Interim Pastor at the Sojourner United Church of Christ.  In the academic realm she served the University of Colorado, Denver’s, Graduate School of Public Affairs (Tenured Track Professor), The Center for Community Excellence and Social Justice (Founder and CEO), the Metropolitan Academy for Behavioral Health (Behavioral Economist and Public Policy Analyst).  In the mental and behavioral health venues she has served as a member of the Colorado Board of Parole and currently on Mental Health Center of Denver’s Board of Directors.  She also chairs the Board of Trustees for the Aspen Theological Seminary and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Colorado Justice Institute.
